A Battle with the Abyss

...And they've left for furious battlefields,
Mighty armies on glorious wooden ships.
Spreading fear across merciless enemies
Taking path of the swans going overseas.

Prince had summoned his friends, and sworn brothers came,
And the vassals from lands he once won were there,
The young men, who gave oath to serve properly,
And the bard to praise battle in centuries.

.....

Time went by, and they've listened to song of seas,
From blue vastness there were mournful melodies
Of the vanity of human deeds and lives
And of banners that drowned in the waves of time.

But the warriors drowned those quite whispering
In the clang of steel, heavy boots clattering.
And they've urged bard to sing for them constantly,
To amuse them with stories of battlefields.

....

Strings were singing of steel and of treasuries,
Songs of glory and songs of great valiancy,
So no one could have heard how wave's whispering
Slowly turned into furious rumbling.

Storm was raging and waves that now huge and fierce
Crashing down all this glorious wooden ships
Where are you now, oh, prince with your mighty friends?
Your fine banner now rests in the water's depths.

They were heading towards the eternity
But no one ever able to leave his ship,
Only bard who would now with his truthful strings
Tell the story of battle with the abyss.

.........

...And they've left for furious battlefields,
Mighty armies on glorious wooden ships.
Spreading fear across merciless enemies
Taking path of the swans going overseas.
